Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg

In this article, we have tried to explore the journey of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg.

Facebook well known social networking site has made its CEO Mark Zuckerberg the world's youngest billionaire. Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg in his college days. In fact, the origin is said to be Mark's hostel room. Mark became the world's youngest billionaire as soon as Facebook reached its 250 million user mark. The world even has witnessed a movie by the name "The Social Network" showcasing Facebook's journey. Today Facebook is world's biggest and used social networking site.

Mark Zuckerberg early days.

Mark Zuckerberg was born on 14th May 1984, White Plains, New York, USA. His father Edward Zuckerberg is a dentist by profession and mother, Karen Zuckerberg works as a psychiatrist. From his early school days, Mark was fond of programming. At the age of 12,  Mark Zuckerberg created a messaging program "Zucknet" based on ATARI Basic. Even this program was used by Mark's father in his dentist office those days in order to alarm the turn of next patient without office boy's shout. This unique way of welcoming next patient even made his father's dental clinic famous those days.

Zucknet program

Mark Zuckerberg even implemented this "Zucknet" in his home also and made his family interact indoors through this program. Noticing Mark's interest in computers, his father hired "David Newma" to teach computer once every week to his son. David Newman helped a lot in taking Mark's computer skill's to a next level. Mark Zuckerberg in his higher secondary school created a next level MP3 media player, this player was different from normal as Mark's MP3 player used to automatically create a list of songs based on user's activity.

Harvard's days

In the year 2003, Mark thought of creating "FaceMash". Mark Zuckerberg decided to hack the database of Havard, this was the place where the student used to upload their profile pictures. Mark created and ran a program which was automatically selecting two different female profile pictures and providing an option of voting to the beautiful one. FaceMash went viral and in short span of time, the traffic increased to multiple folds. This huge traffic even crashed the servers of Harvard. After this incident, Mark Zuckerberg was called by the Havard committee and even penalised for his unethical action of hacking college's database. Although this incident was criticised by the Harvard but is also said to be the beginning of Facebook's creation.

Creation of Facebook

Facebook is used worldwide today. And like Mark Zuckerberg's other programs, Facebook was also created in a short span of time. The idea of social networking site was passed to Zuckerberg by Divya Narendra. He was a partner of Winklevoss Twins. Narendra told Mark to work on a social site by the name "Harvard Connection".Mark got so impressed by the idea and started working on the project.

It was while working on Harvard connection, Mark Zuckerberg decided to work now for his own social networking site. And to fulfil the dream of his own social networking site Mark Zuckerberg registered a domain by the name "thefacebook.com". Today this domain is known by the name "Facebook".

Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin

The Facebook's  first investor is Mark's friend Eduardo Saverin. Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo hired more programmers when Facebook traffic reached 4000. In the year 2004, Mark and Eduardo were holding 60% and 35% shares respectively and rest 5% were hold by other partners. From Starting Mark Zuckerberg was having a thought that Facebook is only for students and by the year 2005 Facebook was ready for use in institutes and universities of USA.

Facebook presence worldwide

After 2005, The traffic on Facebook reached to a massive 50 million users. Seeing such a traffic Yahoo offered Mark Zuckerberg 900 million dollars for the ownership of Facebook. But Mark was aiming big and refused the proposal of Yahoo. After that facebook rapidly kept on moving ahead and soon marked its presence everywhere in the world. Today Facebook is world's biggest and most used social networking site and almost every internet user holds facebook account.
